I woke with an overwhelming feeling of Independence, gratefulness, and a saddened sense of conflict this morning.

Anxiety soon stepped in, so I grabbed my phone and earphones and surrendered myself to social media where I heard these words, “Anything lost can be found again, except for time wasted” during a conversation on relationships.

The video ended and I started writing this piece with much anxiety.

I asked myself, are you proud of your contributions towards the Independence of Guyana and your fellow Guyanese?

Guyana is the world’s only Co-operative Republic. Our beloved country was created on the idea of many people living freely and jointly on this land.

My contributions are many, and yes I am proud of them. I have mostly done what I wanted to do for myself, for Guyana and my fellow Guyanese.

I am also not proud of my many contributions which have denied the Independence of my fellow Guyanese.

As we celebrate the 55th Independence of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, let’s reflect on our contributions towards the happiness and prosperity of Guyana.

This celebration is for all of us… Are you proud of your contributions towards the independence of Guyana, your fellow Guyanese, and yourself?
