Linden, Guyana – (Gtmemoirs Demerara) – How would you rate the Internet Service provided in Linden, Guyana?

If like us you live and work in Linden. Your life and business is reliant on the delivery of internet service. If you have experienced internet speeds of over 20megs, the following shouldn’t you frustrate that much.

A customer recently wrote the following to the technical support team of AWN, a reseller of GTT data in Linden. “I am trying to understand why y’all took off my net?”

We spoke with the customer who acknowledged that her bill was overdue. She delayed in paying to see if AWN would have compensated her for the three weeks of no service in June 2021.

She ended the exchange stating that AWN was aware of the problem, and just ignored it.

AWN locks you into their monthly plan. Which states that you must pay for the full month, even if you don’t receive a month of service.

A WhatsApp reply from AWN technical support team stated “I see that you are having 4mbs of data sending through to you currently.” When in fact there was no service.

  • In 1970, Linden, the birthplace of bauxite mining in Guyana, which is divided by the Demerara River, was declared a town.
  • Bauxite Mining afforded the people of many privileges not afforded other Guyanese. World-class physical infrastructure was one of those many privileges.
  • In 2021 Linden is still considered a bauxite mining town, even though less that 5% of the population still work in Bauxite.
  • Vast amounts of the remaining 95% are dependent on internet services for work, school, worship, and entertainment.

People throughout Linden expect the privilege of internet service which delivers great speeds, value and customer service.

They still have many secret grievances over their presumably denied privileges they want resolved, they have added world-class internet to the list.
