RIVER TOWN MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL COMES TO HARMONY HILL, RASVILLE
+ FESTIVAL RELEASE: Rasville, Wismar Linden – The highly anticipated River Town Music and Arts Festival (RTMAF) is set to take place from 28 April to 1 May 2023 at Harmony Hill, Rasville. This year’s festival promises to be a celebration of Guyana’s rich cultural heritage. With an impressive lineup of events and activities that will keep visitors entertained for four exciting days.
ABOUT THE RTMAF
Born out of a desire to encourage more performances by Guyanese across Guyana. The festival, even though independent, is being staged during the annual Linden Town Week 2023. It aims to share with Guyana and the World, Guyana’s rich artistic expressions and creations. Being hosted over a weekend will afford the festival the opportunity to bring workers together for a celebration of Linden and Lindeners and non-Lindeners.
Music lovers will be thrilled to know that the festival will feature three concerts. They are the River Town Soca Stage, River Town Hip Hop & Poetry, River Town Calypso Caravan, and the River Town Comedy Festival. Some of Guyana’s most talented artists, including reigning and former Soca and Calypso Monarchs. Guyana’s leading comedians are set to take the stage. Over 30 emerging talents are set to take the stage, some for the first time in Linden. All coming to deliver unforgettable performances that will have everyone dancing and laughing.
The festival will also offer Soca and Calypso Music Masterclasses, hosted by Timon Fraser and Roger Hinds, respectively. These masterclasses will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best in the industry and hone their skills.
In addition to the music, visitors can explore the festival market, featuring local vendors selling unique arts and crafts, and immerse themselves in Guyanese folklore and storytelling at the storytelling circle. This year’s festival will showcase the very best of Guyanese culture, with something for everyone to enjoy.
